Dear Friends,

Today we check in with a heartwarming story of community support for 3H Youth Ranch, a transformational home serving young men aged 11-17 who are in the conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

Read on to learn how ranch youth, staff and community members joined together to honor a beloved, longtime ranch advocate. Your ongoing partnership provides support for our most vulnerable youth while also building stronger, more resilient communities.

Working together to strengthen our collective futures
When we work together to support our most vulnerable youth, we help them grow smarter, more resilient, and able to self-regulate. By supporting our boys now, we empower them to transition into happy, successful adults who create a healthier and more productive community.

Long-time Kerrville resident and 3H Youth Ranch supporter, Peter Miller, understood this well. For more than 20 years, Pete spearheaded numerous 3H initiatives including ranch donations, holiday support, mentoring partnerships, Bible study, and community service projects. Through his dedication, dozens of lives were transformed.

Mr. Miller was honored at the 3H Youth Ranch where the boys, staff and approximately 50 area community members paid tribute to this amazing man. The boys helped plant a 15’ live oak in Mr. Miller’s honor. Afterwards, the 3H team served a hearty barbeque lunch and guests enjoyed campus tours led by the boys. See more Remembrance Ceremony photos here.

Live oak tree planted at 3H commemorates Peter Miller and his long-time support of the ranch.

"We were so honored to celebrate this great man. Pete played an integral role here at the ranch, and the boys looked forward year round to working with him on the Hunt Volunteer Fire Department’s fundraiser that provides holiday meal support for community families. We miss him but remember him daily as we pass by our beautiful tree.”

Celebrating Summer at the Ranch

Though the boys attend school full-time and participate in numerous community support projects, the 3H team makes sure there is plenty of time for fun. Most recently, the team traveled to Austin for an annual UT baseball game outing.

Activities like this and last spring’s Big Bend camping trip are a crucial element of life at the ranch and ensure normalcy, well-being and healthy development for each young man. As they head into their six-week summer break, a trip to Inks Lake State Park is on the agenda and there will be plenty of swimming, hiking and fishing.

It is your support that helps make these things possible. Quite literally, your partnership changes lives, igniting the power of each child’s potential. We are so grateful for you and proud to partner with you on this life-changing mission.

Your Support Lasts a Lifetime

Your investment in 3H Youth Ranch makes generational change a reality. The ripple effect of investing in our youth can disrupt lifelong family cycles of poverty, homelessness, academic instability and behavioral health challenges. When we work together to transform the life of a child in need, we begin building a better future for every family, every individual in our community.
